CLOTHING SYSTEM

CLOTHING SYSTEM

In the outdoor culture, it is common to divide clothes into three layers: base layers (next-to-skin), medium layers (insulating) and outer layers (protection against wind, cold and elements). We follow the layer system which has been generally adopted by modern military. It includes more than 20 items consolidated in eight groups (layers), which can be combined with each other depending on temperature, precipitation and physical activity. Length, fit and the placement of pockets and zippers of each product allows you to combine any layers together.

L1BASE LAYER: HIGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The L1 base layer purpose is to transfer moisture from the body since the largest heat loss occurs when wet clothing is in contact with the skin. For our base layer products we use high quality polyester fibers, special woven structure of the fabric effeciently absorbs and evaporates moisture.

L2 BASE LAYER: COLD WEATHER

Warm base layers are generally thicker than L1 layers. With the freezing temperatures outside, the second layer can be worn constantly regardless of the nature of the physical activity.

L3 MIDLAYER: INSULATION

Its main purpose is to preserve heat. The L3 layer is worn above L1 and L2 layers and, to the extent possible, should not interfere with the moisture transfer into outer layers. Under low temperatures, the layers are usually used for low or no physical acitivity. At temperatures of -20 °С or lower, it can be also used for high physical activity.

L4 OUTER LAYER: WIND PROTECTION

Windproof layer is designed to protect against wind and light precipitation. Worn as an outer layer together with any of L1–L2–L3 or their combination. Universal, light, compact and quick-drying, the layer is used in summer and in the off-season.

L5 OUTER LAYER: SOFTSHELLS

Softshell is one of the most versatile materials used in outdoor apparel. It protects against wind, light rain and snow and breathes well. We use doube-weave stretch woven fabric that is abrasion resistant on the outside and moisture-wicking inside. Durable water repellent finish makes the fabric weather resistant.

L6 OUTER LAYER: RAIN PROTECTION

The L6 protects against heavy precipitation and is worn over L5 layer or a combination of base layers and an insulating mid layer. Mechanical strength, waterproofness and breathability (moisture permeability) are very important, therefore we use 3L WPB membranes with a nylon outer layer. The higher moisture transfer rate of the membrane, the less moisture is retained by the layers under the L6 layer, especially during high exertion activity.

L7 OUTER LAYER: COLD WEATHER INSULATION

The L7 layer protects against cold and elements at sub zero temps. Can be worn over L1-L5 layers or their combination. The principal set consists of a hooded jacket and  pants with side zippers with synthetic insulation.

L10 HOT WEATHER APPAREL

The L10  layer is used in the warm season when other outer layers are no longer needed. This layer is worn over or without L1. It's made from a strong and breathable fabric. It has internal pockets for additional elbows' and knees' protection.
